Sterilization Applications

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is widely used for sterilization in a variety of industries as an environmentally friendly alternative to previous sterilizing chemicals. The main difficulty with this technique is the need to measure concentrations of H2O2 in a sterilized environment, in the presence of water vapor (H2O) in vacuum and ambient conditons. Guided Wave provides a turn-key NIR spectroscopic-based analyzer system to measure gaseous H2O2 and H2O vapor concentrations in real-time without the need to sample, which could introduce contamination to the sterilizing environment. The monitoring probe is placed inside the sterilization environment and connects vis fiber optic cables to the remote HPV analyzer:

  • H2O2 vapor … 0.1 – 50 mg/L (72 – 35,600 ppm V/V), with ± 0.1 mg/L error
  • H2O vapor … 1.0 mg/L to condensation (>1345 ppm), with ± 1.0 mg/L error
