Sterilization Applications

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is widely used for sterilization in a variety of industries as a safe alternative to previous sterilizing chemicals. The main difficulty with this technique is the need to measure concentrations of H2O2 in a sterilized environment, and in the presence of water vapor (H2O). Guided Wave provides a turn-key NIR spectroscopic-based analyzer system to measure gaseous H2O2 and H2O vapor concentrations in real-time without the need to remover samples, which could introduce contamination to the sterilizing environment. The sterilized, monitoring probe is placed inside the sterilization environment where it needs little maintenance and gives accurate results for:

  • H2O2 vapor … 0.1 – 50 mg/L (72 – 35,600 ppm V/V), with ± 0.1 mg/L error
  • H2O vapor … 1.0 mg/L to condensation (>1345 ppm), with ± 1.0 mg/L error
