Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilization
Many pharmaceutical companies are switching to
hydrogen peroxide (H
2O
2) vapor for some of their sterilization processes. Unlike other chemicals used for sterilization, hydrogen peroxide is safe for the environment, and it is also less hazardous to work with.
The problem for the process operator has been how to measure H2O2 concentrations within the isolator DURING STERILIZATION CYCLES in real-time.
Until now, it has been virtually impossible to get accurate REAL-TIME H
2O
2 concentration measurements from
WITHIN the barrier system. Guided Wave's H
2O
2 Vapor Monitor (
HPVM) with remote fiber optic vapor probe was designed to meet this need.
Real-Time Information
Guided Wave's HVPM measures both H
2O and H
2O
2 over a wide range of concentrations. Because the gas cell, or what we call a "probe", goes directly inside your sterilization chamber, both H
2O and H
2O
2 concentrations are measured and displayed continuously near you on the HVPM. Only light is transmitted between the HVPM and the probe using fiber optic cables. Thus, there are no elecrical connections between the probe and HVPM for safe operation.
Highest Accuracy
- H2O2 vapor 0.1-10 mg/l (72-7200 ppm) ±0.1 mg/l
- H2O vapor 1-50 mg/l ±0.2 mg/l
Know Your Process!
- Verify peroxide injection rates
- Map the distribution of peroxide within the barrier
- Develop sterilization cycles more accurately
- Develop validation protocols
- Monitor and document peroxide during production in REAL-TIME
Why It Works!
We use the unique near-infrared (NIR) spectral signatures of H
2O and H
2O
2 to provide you with continuous concentration monitoring. We have been awarded a U.S. patent for this method. We provide a validated calibration, which includes the means to correct the peroxide signal for any contribution from the nearby water vapor signal, as shown below:
Complete Package
We supply you with a complete package. You'll receive the monitor, fiber optic probe, optical fiber cables and operator's manual, along with our immediate technical support for any installation needs that may arise. We control the quality of this instrumentation since we manufacture all components. You will use the factory calibration and will not need to re-calibrate the system. Since there are no moving parts, there is nothing to break for low maintenance operation. Our "fail-safe" operation means that you either receive accurate concentration data or an error message telling you what's wrong. Lastly, you can trend the data using the two 0-10 VDC analog outputs if you are not near the display on the monitor. All in all, a complete, integrated, low-cost system that works right out of the box.
