Changing the JAVA Garbage Collector to Prevent Memory Leaks in NIR-O Process Analyzers with the Internal Computer

STEPS:

  1. Connect to the onboard controller inside of the NIR-O enclosure.
  2. Open a File browser and navigate to C:\OmniView\ignition\data\
  3. Locate a file named ignition.conf
  1. Make a backup copy of ignition.conf by renaming the file OLDignition.conf
  2. Move the attached G1GCignition.conf to the data folder.
  3. Rename the G1GCignition.conf to ignition.conf
  4. Restart the analyzer computer.
  5. After startup of the controller, a Command Prompt window will appear. Watch the command window for errors as the java ignition instance is initialized.

a) If there are errors copy the message and send it to Guided Wave Support.
Reverse the changes by deleting the new ignition.conf and renaming the OLDignition.conf to ignition.conf. Then restart the computer.

b) if there are no errors and the program has started successfully, then open an OmnView Client and begin using the analyzer as normal..

NOTE: The garbage collector change can be applied to any OmniView Process Analyzer Software between version 1.0 and 2.5X.
